that she saw her son alive at Mannett Point, by this time a separatist-controlled territory. Iero remained skeptical and did not want to give his wife false hope, he was sure that their son was long dead, yet despite his words she convinced the operatives to confirm whether it was indeed their son. The operatives agreed to help Ellis and went to a Separatists base at Mannett Point.When operatives infiltrated the base and began searching for Paul. Soon they found a young man who looked very much like Ellis described and confronted him in his private quarters when no one was around. They said him that they were sent by a couple to find their son called Paul. At first he said that his name was "Bonecrusher" and he would kill them if they stayed. He even pointed his gun at the operatives, saying that the Separatists were his family and a war was his mother. But when operatives mentioned that he looked exactly as his mother described him, he finally broke down. He confessed that he indeed Paul - the Separatists forced him to join their ranks and, using drugs and rage-induced stimulants, ordered him to kill his own people against his will. He begged the operatives not to kill him. He explained that he thought about running away for a while, but he had no money and the separatists had not paid them. He told the operatives that he couldn't come back after what he had done, and asked if the operatives could give him some credits that to leave Ord Mantell and start a new life. The operatives gave him enough credits to escape the planet. He thanked them, saying he would run away as soon as the stimulants wore off, and gave them the ring his mother had given him when he was young. He asked them to return it to his mother so that she would know he was ok.The operatives took the ring and returned to the refugee camp. They gave the ring to Ellis, who was overjoyed that his son was alive, but still saddened that he would not return. Both she and Iero thanked the operatives before the operatives left the camp. |
